Obstetric (pregnancy) ultrasound scans are charged
a fee for service, starting at $110.00 per ultrasound scan. Fees are
payable at the time of the ultrasound scan by credit cards, debit cards
by way of EFTPOS transfer or cash in Australian currency. The clinic
has a policy of not accepting personal cheques. The level of fee structure
may be obtained by telephone enquiries when appointments are made. Bulk
billing for pregnancy scan is not available at the clinic.
In cases when appropriate referrals for ultrasound
scans are made by a medical practitioner, a Medicare rebate may be claimable
by the patient. The matter of Medicare rebate claims rests entirely
with the determinations of Medicare (Health Insurance Commission), the
referring doctor and the patient. Under certain circumstances, COGUS
clinic may issue an invoice and receipt without a Medicare Benefits
Schedule item number. In other words, an MBS item number can only be
issued when the medical situation fulfils all the criteria set out by
the HIC to meet a Medicare rebate claim.
Abdominal Gynae Scans are charged $130.00. Vaginal gynaecological (non-pregnancy) scans
are charged from $100 and upwards, when the patient
presents with a valid Medicare card, a signed ultrasound scan referral
request form from a registered medical practitioner, and the medical
situation fulfils all the criteria set out by the HIC to meet a Medicare
rebate claim.
Bulk billing is not available at the clinic for any medical services. The level
of fee structure may be obtained by telephone enquiries when appointments
are made. Patients without Medicare entitlement for gynaecological scans
are charged $ 130.00 at the time of the visit.
